Jobs Are Being Completed
I was rearranging the crate in the back of the Toyota when my neighbour commented this has been the longest preparation for a journey - I didn't bother explaining the need to make/modify equipment to suit our purposes as he never does anything like that so wouldn't understand. I started cleaning some of the more difficult to reach areas such as door hinges which still have red dust stuck on whatever lubricant is used by Toyota. I have been trying to buy proper floor mats for the Toyota to trap sand and mud - the manufacturer's product doesn't cover much of the carpet so I have made "extensions" but want moulded mats which are out of stock.
Some jobs have been crossed off my list - put up a new pool safety sign, worked out how to lock the Jeep without arming the sensor alarm, culled and sorted the instruction manuals and other documents that must be carried in the Bushtracker, chased the gardner who had failed to appear, and organised a service of the garage doors which have become extra noisy when operated. The improvement is very noticeable and the light bulbs were changed. These are apparently only available from the supplier of the door openers so I am glad I didn't bother trying to do this myself.
Blue and Tilly are full of energy especially after breakfast. In the evenings they are thankfully tired and quiet. While Tilly was sleeping in her bed she kept her paw on Blue while he slept with his head hanging over the edge of the lounge. At other times she uses him as a cushion.
Her loyalty to Blue is not absolute as she does keep door stop dog company.
I drove to Southport to return library books and drop off donations to the Animal Welfare Op Shop. The lights at the Ferry Rd - Queen St intersection turned red so I was the front vehicle northbound. When the lights turned green and the right turn arrow was green I started to move forward to turn right and was shocked to see a motor cyclist ride through the intersection southbound, obviously against a red light as no other southbound traffic moved. I saw the rider swerve to avoid other cars turning onto Ferry Rd. Unfortunately my dashcam is not good enough to capture number plates.
Blue fell down the stairs this morning after turning around on one of the upper steps. Fortunately he slid down backwards with all legs outstretched and Anita was at the bottom to stop him. He is OK and hopefully he will have learned a lesson.
