Aussie Road Crew - Finished

After our final dinner and concert some Roadies were continuing their celebrations near our Bushtracker. We could hear the noise even though all windows were shut and the van is normally soundproof. As it was after 10pm I ventured out to negotiate with them. While one person accused me of being the fun police, other Roadies supported my suggestion they turn off the amplified music and keep the noise down. The general expectation in caravan parks is noise stops after 10pm. There were non Roadies trying to sleep in tents, and I suggested their activities would reflect badly on Aussie Road Crew and Beccy who might not be able to return to this park on future tours. Fortunately there was very little noise after my visit.

We drove out of the Crows Nest Tourist Park just after 7am looking for a MacDonald's in Toowoomba for coffee and brekkie. Instead we spotted Valetta Cafe in time to park the van across the road. I bought a take away brioche egg and bacon roll and coffees. The cafe is in a lovely building opposite Queens Park. Parking would have an issue if it hadn't been a public holiday.

There were other attractive buildings along Margaret St East. The timber work in the portico is complex and elegant.

I had arranged for a friendly neighbour to park his car where we park normally park the Bushtracker outside our house. He moved his car and we had no issues parking.

We had only just arrived when a new neighbour was asking us for video footage from our security cameras as his Mercedes and wife's jewellery had been stolen early Sunday morning. I told him we would look after we had finished parking and unpacking the caravan. Our camera is positioned to protect the Bushtracker, so he was lucky it was not there as we could identify the time the car was stolen, and see that four people were involved. I gave him a USB stick with the videos and have just finished talking to a detective from the CIB confirming I had down loaded them.

This is the second home invasion in our street that we know of where thieves have entered homes and stolen keys and cars while the residents slept. We will review our security and upgrade if advised. Just as I was writing this we heard our garage door open or close. I had already locked the internal door so went downstairs with a heavy torch while Anita checked the cameras. Nothing showed on any camera so I went outside and saw that both garage doors were shut. We don't know how our garage door opened or closed. They are now additionally secured with two tent pegs stopping the door from opening!

There have been recent cases of garage doors being opened by a person on the outside using a wire to pull the emergency release. That now cannot happen to our doors while the tent pegs are in place.

Our critters have spent the day running from one end of the house to the other! Bluey was so excited to be home! He is now exhausted.

Our next trip will be to the Adelaide Festival in May/June, then late August we go on our next ARC tour in Queensland, starting at the Gympie Muster.
