Caravan Jobs

We have a front and rear dashcams fitted to the Toyota but have never been able to connect them to my phone until today. It is amazing what can be achieved when you have time to work through the issues. I drove down the street to test the functions of the device. I doubt it will ever get photos of readable number plates when the one right in front of the car is not decipherable. There are other features such as warnings of imminent collisions and lane departures, but the Toyota has these already and I don't want two devices telling me what should be obvious. The rear dashcam will not be much use when towing a caravan as that is all it will see.

Blue's new muzzle arrived this morning - excellent service since I only ordered it yesterday. There is a Budget Pet Supply Depot near Bunnings so maybe it didn't have far to come. We spent some time playing with him, following the instructions to put treats inside it to entice him to put his snout into the muzzle. It was quite amusing watching him licking peanut butter from the inside of the muzzle but he was too wriggly for photos. He has so much facial fur it gets flattened towards his eyes so will have to be trimmed before we have another practice session.

Next I put two of his boots on following the photo that came with the product and put the slit to the front. This didn't make any sense as the padding is on that side of each boot. I sent an email to the supplier and received an answer this evening telling me the photo is wrong and the slit should go to the back. It didn't bother Blue which way I fitted them so long as he kept being given treats every time he ran up the corridor wearing boots on his front paws. After I took this picture of him I shaved his front paws so his fur doesn't get caught in the velcro straps.

We took Blue and Tilly with us to the caravan. It was pouring rain and I got the job of connecting the electricity so we could test the operation of the new microwave. Blue and Tilly were content to sit up on the bed looking out a window. We tested the TV, satellite TV, radio, google chrome casting, and the wireless headphones. There are connections for these outside the van that we have never used, but the rain prevented us from testng these today. Anita is worried her new stovetop will get scratched if we put things on it so I got a new job to make a cover.

I have finally settled on an arrangement for the crate to house Blue and Tilly in the back of the Toyota. My concern has been the risk of them being thrown around inside the crate if we swerve or stop suddenly. I bought a new bed with high padded sides that should protect them. They can lay in the bed and look out to the front of the vehicle as the bed is sitting up on two boxes, one of which serves as a kitty litter tray. Only Tilly will be able to get to the lower level so she can use the kitty litter and escape from Blue. There is enough room for another narrow bed for her if she doesn't want to be with him.

This evening we received the good news that several of our friends made it to the Queensland border  before it is closed to southern visitors. Unfortunately some could not come on the trip as they live in a declared hotspot. Hopefuly Beccy and Libby got across with their crew, otherwise we will have to organise our own trip!
