Blue OK So Jobs Resume

We left Blue without his collar for a split second and he licked his operation wound causing it to look as though the stitches had been removed. Fortunately it was Saturday morning and our vet was still open so we were squeezed in between other appointments. After reassuring me he had not removed any stitches which are all internal, I was sternly reminded to keep his collar on. We have done so until this morning as it is healed and he is showing no signs of licking the site of the incision.

When first wearing the collar he looked so dejected, but by yesterday he was running with it and playing with Tilly. While they were sitting on the couch she put her paw out to touch him gently.

Our friends are leaving today but we had a good weekend celebrating one of their birthdays. Anita cooked a lovely meal and a chocolate almond cake. All was going well until the ganache separated and there was oily chocolate glug. She went to the shops to buy more cream and chocolate but while she was gone I googled how to save separated ganache and tried the hot milk trick. By the time she came home it was well on the way and together we slowly whisked it into a creamy texture with the beaters. The cake was lovely as was the fig, cheese and prosciutto entre and pasta dish she served for main course.

I am finally getting the jobs finished for the caravan. The generator has been serviced and collected - we started it easily and locked it away in the aluminium box on the drawbar of the caravan. The empty 10 litre jerry cans have been secured in their holders and the fuel pump stored in one of our boxes. We bought a small inkjet printer as we will have to print any border passes and forms to register with caravan parks.

Yesterday I bought Blue a DFD - dog floatation device. We can no longer call them life jackets. He had to try it on to make sure I bought the right size. I also found a wireless thermometer to monitor the temperature inside the caravan fridge/freezer. This will also be useful for checking the temperature at the back of the Toyota to make sure Blue and Tilly are not getting too hot in their crate - another job for the navigator.

I have previously an inReach two way satellite communicator that requires a subscription to allow text messaging and social media such as facebook. This was our device for advising the authorities of our location in the event of an emergency when out of range of mobile phones and UHF radio. There is only one provider for this service and I was not happy with them. We rarely used the capacity of the device so I am putting that on gumtree as I bought a simple PLB - personal locator beacon. This is lightweight at 130g so can easily be carried on walks. It is only for emergency use when no other option is available to advise the authorities of an emergency situation and our location so is just insurance and will be carried along with the first aid kit.
