Busy Few Days
Our friends from Newcastle picked up their motorhome this morning and are heading south. Blue and Tilly miss them and their dog Hugo - they keep going downstairs to see if they are back. It was lovely having them stay with us. Our friends were thoroughly entertained by the antics of our critters. They gave us this pet backpack and Tilly easily fits and is happy getting into it.
I did a couple of jobs on the caravan - installed midgie flyscreen in the grate on the outside door, and added a layer of midgie flyscreen to the security door. We had another lift company representative come to see if a lift can fit into the shaft of our dumb waiter. I sent a number of companies the dimensions of the shaft, and the rep emailed me to say he could supply one that would fit, but when he inspected the site he described a lot of work would need to be done beforehand. We were not convinced about his product as it needs a pit 130mm deep dug out of our concrete base.
A fencing contractor came to quote on the problem with our shared side fence and gave us the bad news that it would not be economical to retain the fence and only replace the retaining wall. I detected a lack of enthusiasm from my neighbour about having this job done, but said he wouldn't be difficult about it. The soil held up by the retaining wall on our side has dropped more than 100mm in places and is now much lower than the top of the concrete path. The sandstone pebbles were level with the path when installed.
Blue put himself in this portable crate. He had put the cow toy in his bed while he lay on the floor. He keeps "stealing" things and we find them in different parts of the house - my gardening gloves, our friend's slipper, clothes from the drying rack, and pieces of paper which we discourage because he tears them up. While we were out this morning I left him out of his crate but shut in our bedroom with Tilly. I forgot puppies play with toilet rolls, but that was his only mischievous antic.
