A Day At Home With The Critters
This morning I took Anita to the train station as she will be staying the night at the Brisbane Casino Hotel - more respite care. She will come back with me after Blue has his haircut by a professional groomer. The person we chose owns Blue's mother and was his human parent for 8 weeks so there could be exciting reunions.
Most of the day I was in the garage tidying up. I dragged out my kayak and gave it a clean on the front lawn, while Blue and Tilly happily stayed together in their crate in the garage. I had the cat carrying backpack on a chair in my study. Tilly jumped up on the chair and was scratching to get inside. I undid the zip and voila!
I tried to take Blue for a walk but he was even more reluctant than usual, possibly because of noise from the building site and the strong winds. He became very excited when our cleaner arrived, but sat down instead of jumping on her - he is learning. Tilly also came running to say hello.
For dinner I reheated one of Anita's curries with rice. I cooked chicken, rice and vegetables for Blue, most of which was put into the freezer in small packets. He has enjoyed eating small pieces of the turkey meat loaf I made him a couple of days ago. We are introducing different foods in very small quantities, while making sure he consumes plenty of his top of the range dried food.
My neighbour brought another fencing contractor to see the fence from our side. He thinks he can save the fence while replacing the timbers in the retaining wall. The contractor said he would store all of our sandstone pebbles on our path so they can be replaced once the fence is done - that got me in as I had envisaged having to do that part of the job myself.
It has been a tiring day for the little ones so they snuggled up together on the couch. Blue runs twice as far as Tilly when they are playing as he has to entice her into the game. So far the only thing he has run into was the glass door leading into the pool. Tilly has also done that but she is more prone to misjudging distances and landing awkwardly.
