Rainy Day Jobs
We walked to the Brickworks for breakfast but took our raincoats as it was cold and rain was forecast. Blue is not happy walking along the main road as the noise of traffic spooks him. When we went into the only cafe that allows dogs we spotted some friends and they joined us in the covered outdoor eating area. Just as we were leaving it started to rain so I put Blue in the backpack so only his head got wet.
We put Blue into the crate at the back of the Toyota for the first time. He sat up all the time we were driving looking out the back window. That will be a boring view when we are towing the Bushtracker. We went to the Bundall mirror shop but it has relocated so we doubled back and found it in Southport. I showed the proprietor photos of the frame in the bathroom and he suggested we just replace the mirror rather than remove the frame, but get a mirror with a bevelled edge to make it look a bit smarter. I worked out the size we need and sent him an email requesting it be ordered. Back home I undercoated the outer frame and tomorrow will paint it with the same enamel paint used on our doors and architraves.
I then tackled the downstairs shower bracket which had come loose. The screws that had been holding the bottom bracket had dissovled into bits of rust. I cleaned the bracket and silver cover then had to remove the remains of the screws rusted into plastic plugs. I was able to gently tap one through the tile, but the other wouldn't budge. I used a very small drill bit to remove tiny bits of the plastic plug, then a slightly larger drill bit before I was able to tap the plug through without causing any damage to the tile. After cleaning the rust off the tile I tapped in two new plugs and screwed the bracket back on with stainless screws. Before I put the silver bracket on I drilled a couple of holes in the bottom so water can drip out.
Blue and Tilly are getting into mischief cooperatively - she climbs up and knocks things to the ground and he chews things up. It was the rubbish bin in the bedroom one day which Tilly knocked off the dressing table. Blue pulled apart all of the tissues and bits of paper. She found a couple of USB drives near my computer and must have knocked these to the ground. I realised one was missing and we searched for it because I was concerned one of them might have swallowed it. Finally I found it buried in one of their beds, complete with teeth marks.
