More Caravan Jobs

It looked like it might rain so we did not go for a walk this morning. There was no rain all day even though the sunrise suggested it might. I finished resealing a vent in the wall of the caravan. We had this installed to let heat out when the gas oven was alight. We have replaced the oven with a microwave oven so don't need the vent which lets dust inside the van. Under the stainless vent I found two 63mm holes in the caravan wall. To fill these I cut pieces of polystyrene to size and jammed them into the holes. I smeared sealant around the edges and for extra protection taped the inside of the vent to make sure no dust can get in. I screwed the vent back into place with some additional sealant.

Having opened my marine grade sealant for the vent job, I decided to tackle the access door on the Bushtracker that is leaking, otherwise the sealant could go to waste. Removing the plastic access door was far too easy because the existing sealant had not adhered to the plastic. It had certainly stuck to the aluminium checkerplate. I first scraped bits of sealant off using a blade. Once the bulk of the old sealant had been removed, I used a wire brush in a portable drill to remove most of the residue. This proved to be slow process because of the uneven checkerplate surface. I will finish this job tomorrow. It is no wonder the seal leaked given how much dust there was between the plastic doorframe and the side of the van.

Blue had vomited bile this morning so we left him at home in his crate while we headed to the shops. First stop was the pet shop to buy a harness for Tilly and training collar for Blue. At Spotlight we picked up a few small items for the caravan and saw some material that might be suitable for making covers for the seat cushions. At Bunnings the cafe was open so we had "lunch" walking around the warehouse - the cafe is only licensed to sell takeaway food at the moment. Beacon lighting was our final stop for some LED bulbs to improve the lighting in the downstairs bathroom.

Last night Blue was sleeping in his doughnut bed. Tilly evicted him but he took no offence, simply going back to sleep next to her.
