Cold Rainy Saturday
We took Blue to breakfast with our friends at a cafe that is very dog friendly. It even has a kennel where dogs can be left while people eat. Blue was not going to be staying there! He prefers laps but did settle on the bed we took for him. The young woman who took our orders mucked up the coffees and was very stressed about it. We kept reassuring her it was not a disaster and the proprietor gave us free protein balls to encourage us to return.
I painted the mirror frame with enamel paint but I had removed the bulbs from the light fitting to gain access to the top of the frame so may have to do a second coat tomorrow. My next job was putting a soft waterproof covering on the caravan steps which are metal with protrusions to clean shoes - not good for bare feet or tender puppy feet. I first put on rubber backed rugs but when it rained they stayed wet for days. Today I put on a plastic mat designed as a bathmat but which we use to capture kitty litter when the cat leaves her box. Unfortunately this turned out to be too thick for the steps to be easily folded up for travel. Plan C is to buy a small piece of marine carpet to see if that will work.
Blue continues to attract our neighbours. I was walking him in front of a nearby house and the three adults and resident dog all came out for a visit. I took the opportunity to borrow a couple of rakes to level the soil on a garden bed. My rear neighbour's falling leaves have contributed to the soil level being too high next to our pool. Other garden beds were low so I topped them up and also put some soil in pots.
Today was Tilly's first day outside on her harness and lead. She didn't move much even when Blue tried to pull her along with the lead. She freezes when the harness is on her but I persuaded her to move from the succulent to the cat grass.
Last night Tilly was sleeping in the larger bed I bought for them to share. Blue climbed in with her and snuggled up. They are great mates.
