First Haircut
I bought a new set of clippers to groom Blue's long puppy fur. The electric clippers I had for removing Coco's fur when he developed hot spots are too heavy and too large for a small puppy. He doesn't mind the sound or the vibration but wasn't keen on having his fur removed. Fortunately I picked a time when he was very tired and sat him on my lap and brushed his fur till he fell asleep, then I gave him his first haircut. Anita is not impressed but the aim was to get some of the fur off and get him used to being clipped.
We met up with four friends for breakfast at a local cafe, a regular get together we have all missed during the strict lockdown. The rules allow people to sit in the cafe for an hour if they are having a meal, and 20 minutes if just having coffee. We had taken Blue with us and left him in his crate in the Jeep while we were in the cafe as it was so cool today. He was happy to receive multiple cuddles before everyone left.
I installed the last window on the gatehouse but didn't get around to moving things out there from the garage. A couple of nights ago I replaced the seat on one of our toilets. I had bought a couple of toilet seats from Masters before it closed down and finally found the time and incentive to remove the old one and install the new one.
The forecast is for an overnight minimum of 6 degrees here at the Gold Coast, so our pool temperature will plummet even with the heat-retaining cover on. It may be time to give up heating the pool as it is cold when we get out, even if the water is lovely and warm. The sunset was sensational and drew lots of people out of their houses with their phones to take photos like these.
Tonight we had dinner with friends at their apartment in Surfers Paradise. Blue came with us and unsucessfully tried to get this lovely older dog to play with him. There is a full length mirror at the end of the hall and Blue just couldn't understand what he was seeing. He spent a long time walking towards the mirror, then backing off trying to work out where that other dog went.
He is settling down and not being so rough with Tilly when they play. He is 12 weeks old today and weighs 2.5 kgs. She is only 1.5 kgs but sometimes behaves like a Sumo wrestler. Predictions about the adult size and weight of Toy Poodles based on their current weight are available online. One site suggests he will only grow to be 4.3 kgs but another suggests he will triple his current weight so would grow to be 7.5 kgs, which seems unlikely.
