Catch Up with Friends
It was a lovely sunny day when I took Blue for a walk. We only managed to walk two houses from home when he had a meeting with a 5 month old French bulldog. The pups kept tangling their leads as I got to know the other one's parents who own a house in our street but don't live there. They plan to knock it down and build a new home so they will be living closer to The Southport School. Others joined our chat so they got to meet more of their prospective neighbours. Blue walks surprisingly well on his lead and harness but I will change to just a collar when I can be sure he won't slip out of it.
We had been invited to lunch at our friends' horse farm so Blue had his first meeting with horses and he coped very well. He is very adaptable and went to sleep in his small crate, only whimpering when he needed to get out. We could walk around the farm and he just followed us without a lead playing in the grass. Lunch was lovely as was the company. Poor Tilly misses us all when we leave her at home by herself, but we give her special attention when we get home. She is always waiting for us immediately behind the front door. She must already know the sound of our Jeep returning in the driveway.
I had my first puppy school meeting via Zoom where the trainer chatted about common puppy challenges such as toilet training, wearing harnesses and collars, and living with other animals. After listening to some of the other participants describe the issues they are having with their puppies I decided our Blue is doing very well! I used Anita's study for the Zoom meeting and turned around to find Blue sleeping with the doorstop in the most compromising position.
I put a donated coat on Blue just to get him used to wearing one as sometimes he will need to when we travel to the outback and the nights are freezing cold. He will also have to learn to wear booties to protect his paws from bindiis and other burrs, so I need to order some to get him used to wearing them.
Tonight we watched Australian Story as we knew Beccy Cole and Libby O'Donovan would appear to talk about what they have been doing during the COVID 19 lockdown. They hope to resume their Aussie Road Crew tours around the country as soon as it is possible. We are booked on a trip in August so hopefully that will proceed as planned.
