Day 39 - Wet Drive Home

The rain started soon after we hit the road about 7am. It was intermittent light rain at first, but then we had several unpleasant episodes of heavy rain with reduced visibility. The sunrise sky offered a weather warning.

A couple of idiots overtook us then moved back into our lane too soon and too close to the front of the Toyota. They don't realise the car and caravan weighs around 6 tonnes which doesn't stop quickly in the wet.

Soon after we turned onto the Pacific Highway a fault message appeared on the Toyota - Fuel Filter Requires Maintenance. Anita searched through the manual and we learned we had to stop if a more urgent message came on with warning bells. Fortunately that didn't happen and tomorrow we can take the problem to Toyota which is conveniently located around the corner.

We passed through a couple of areas that had been burned in the spring bushfires near Port Macquarie and in the Clarence Valley.

Today was the first time we have driven across the new Harwood Bridge over the Clarence River. We used to live beside the Clarence River and one of our former neighbours worked on the bridge as a construction engineer. This is the top of the old bridge as seen from the new bridge today with canefields in the background.

I found this photo showing the old bridge open allowing yachts to pass through, while traffic continues to drive on the new bridge. There used to be delays on the highway when traffic had to stop to allow the bridge to open.

We were happy to see our Miki when we got home. She has taken up permanent residence in the garage close to her food, water and kitty litter. She had multiple trips to the vet while we were away, but today she seems fine today for a 19 year old cat.

After we took a few loads of food and clothes from the caravan into the house, the rain started again. We called it quits and drove to our local Thai restaurant for dinner. This was the view across the Nerang River at the end of our road.

These two photo books of my recent blogs had arrived in the post while we were away. I used a different printer - PixxiBooks - and am impressed with the finished product.

Hopefully my next blog will cover our overseas holiday starting in May. I will send you a link but until then stay safe and well. Sylvia
