White Cliffs to Broken Hill

The rain stopped overnight but I still had to carry Blue across the mud so he could use the dry bitumen as his toilet. Several vehicles travelling on dry gravel roads one day found themselves having to deal with flooded muddy roads. Some roads are closed when it rains or they are damaged by cars and trucks leaving deep ruts.

We returned to Wilcania to refuel then drove to Broken Hill for lunch - a shorter day travelling 295kms. Our favourite cafe in Broken Hill is back in business so we had lunch at the Silly Goat. On our walk back to our caravan we called in to see my niece-in-law working at one of the shoe shops in Argent St. I love the historic buildings in Broken Hill, especially those from the Art Deco era.

We were booked in at the Broken Hill Tourist Park where we have stayed several times before. We had to pay the full cost when the booking was made. There are so many caravans and motorhomes on the road the parks don't want to have no-shows. It took 20 minutes to check in as there were half a dozen vans ahead of us. Our site is near the entrance and I have watched several vans be turned away as they had not made a booking and the park is full.

We did some washing and walked Blue around the park meeting other dogs. My brother-in-law organised dinner for us to catch up with my relatives at the Broken Hill Pub, including lovely baby Ivy and her dad Steve.
