Longreach
Early this morning we drove to Longreach for shopping. The main street was not busy and it was still fairly cool. Not all shops were open but we managed to buy groceries, a coffee, a couple of pet bowls, and a new harness and lead for Tilly. I noticed teeth marks on the plastic buckles of her current harness, and if Blue broke these we would find it hard to manage Tilly without a secure harness.
There are some new retail buildings that blend well with the older shops. Curved glass shop fronts in country towns are a favourite of mine.
We had arranged to mind Harvey while his owners visited Longreach. He was well behaved when I took him for a short walk. I had visited the key attractions in Longreach last time we were here, so Anita may want to see the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame tomorrow.
A cloud mass skirted around Ilfracombe causing a light sprinkle of rain. This is the afternoon cloud cover looking eastward along the railway line. The Spirit of the Outback train passed through town this afternoon, stopping to drop off one passenger from Brisbane. He assured me the train is far more comfortable than the bus.
We went to the pool and spa again this afternoon, stopping for a drink at the pub on the way home. The first photo shows the post office in the sunset, and the second is an old house behind the caravan park.
