Lara Wetlands
I drove about 35kms to Lara Wetlands, 13kms on soft red dirt that was being watered to keep the dust down. Several Roadies are camped there and I met the new feline Roadie.
Blue is not well - the only thing he has eaten today is grass, and lots of it. He gets onto our bed and parks himself between the pillows. I stayed with him while the others went to the pool, catching up on some knitting while watching TV.

This evening a group of us had dinner at the Satisfaction Cafe. The menu is extensive and we could have ordered anything from the breakfast and lunch options. We settled on pizzas, lasagne, steak, rissotto, spaghetti and ham burger.
We then visited the Tree of Knowledge which is lit up at night. This 200 year old ghost gum is believed to have been poisoned in 2006. In 1891 it was the gathering point for striking shearers, and in 1892 the Labor Party manifesto was read beside the tree This led to the formation of the Australian Labour Party.
A large award-winning timber structure was built above the remaining tree trunk. At night the bottoms of some of the large timbers reflect light creating the illusion of leaves. The statue depicts a shearer pledging his allegiance to the strike.
