Hawthorn Lodge Blackall

There is a grand sign announcing your arrival at Blackall, but there was nowhere to stop to take a photo on potentially boggy ground. Fortunately our friend Karen had been here and taken this wonderful photo before the rains had turned the area green. The sign was unveiled in 2019. Each letter is 7m tall.

Hawthorn Lodge was previously the Blackall Masonic Temple. It now operates as a cafe/restaurant and sells antiques and collectables such as this golden poodle.

The owner was happy for me to take pictures and explore upstairs and this magnificent cedar staircase. The lower level is 4.6m tall below these timber joists secured by herring bone struts.
