Meninge

Last night's storm didn't disturb us, but Tilly knocking around her food bowl woke us at 3.30am! Blue then woke so I had to take him outside between showers. He was funny growling at thunder but settled down and went back to sleep. We were glad not to have been on the eastern coast of the Eyre Penninsular after seeing this radar map, which hardly changed over several hours.

The rain stopped here by morning and the sun was out from 10am. Strong winds made Lake Albert look like a surf beach. We drove the short distance to the Meninge shops and had coffee at the bakery. There is a spacious car wash in town that would take the caravan, but there is no raised platform to allow us to reach the roof. We cleaned the Toyota while Blue was inside, but he was not fussed.

Back at the caravan park I walked Blue to the museum in the old cheese factory across the road. This statue of a cattle dog had Blue a bit confused.

The museum has an extensive collection of farm implements, kitchen equipment, radios, furniture and clothing. There was no attendant so I paid my $5 donation and walked around with Blue - a sign required dogs stay on leads implying they are allowed inside.

Back at camp I let Tilly out on a lead. She could not resist the dripping tap or investigating the drain. I had to put her back inside when birds gathered to attack her.

We had dinner at the restaurant attached to the museum, but the menu was limited to schnitzels  or Coorong mullet. The food was OK but not brilliant.
