Corny Point
One of the negatives about our last stop at Corny Point was the almost non existent Telstra connections. Our group went to this location because it is the home of Amber Joy Poulton, and Beccy and Libby like it and wanted to support the community. There is a general store and tavern that has limited opening days. I couldn't find a lot to like about the area - lots of driving to get to different beaches, and many of the beaches are rocky and covered in seagrass. It is located on the tip of the boot of the Yorke Penninsular.
On the first night we were served King George whiting at the caravan park, caught and cooked by locals. Recreational fishing is a major activity but the shallow beaches require tractors to launch boats across the 200 to 500m of sand and water at low tide. Amber sang songs from her latest album that has been recorded but is still awaiting distribution. We pre ordered our copy.
It was Melbourne Cup on the last day of our Aussie Road Crew tour. A few of us had lunch at Marion Bay returning to Corny Point for the race and another chance to dress up! The final concert was in the nearby Memorial Hall. Beccy had invited the locals to attend for free. She had so many of the small local population accept that the musicians did two concerts, sing different numbers in each show.
Yesterday we farewelled most of our Roadie friends at Corny Point and travelled back to the Barossa. There are six of us here for a few days.
Tilly had a couple of walks out of the caravan, but was most interested in sniffing out rabbits. She slept in her donut bed on top of the crate. I washed their toys which all are some type of animal - to human eyes but I doubt Tilly or Blue think they are playing with a mouse, snake or spider.
