Cape Jaffa

Tilly woke us early because she could hear birds outside. She was scratching at windows and racing around the van. I had to put her in the crate to calm her down. At least we were on the road by 9am for our 337km drive to Cape Jaffa.

Our travelling companions have ideas about what we can see and do in this area, but have decided the camping options at Kingston SE are better than the caravan park at Cape Jaffa. It is basic but we have three sites to ourselves with afternoon shade.

We managed to have eight stops on today's drive. Our first stop was to buy coffee at Mount Pleasant but the cafe was full of motorcycle riders. At Murray Bridge we found a clean dump site then stopped again in the town to finally get coffees. Stop four was to refuel. Stop five was beside a pink lake to take photos. At Meningie we parked outside the Old Cheese Factory restaurant hoping to have lunch, but all tables were reserved. We moved on and spotted our friends' motorhome so parked behind them at Lake Albert for lunch in the Bushtracker. Our final stop was at a roadside rest area where we came across a police officer bemoaning rubbish scattered around the bin.

The pink lake was on one side of the road and on the other side of the road there was a white salt lake.

Once set up at Cape Jaffa I walked Bluey to the beach where there is a jetty. Lobsters can be purchased here but today's price was $90 per kilo. There are no shops or services here, only a few houses, but they aren't all as decrepit as this one.
