Broken Hill

We made our escape from Adelaide and reached Broken Hill in NSW. The Queensland Government declared Adelaide a Covid hotspot from 11.59pm tonight, unlike other states which made their declarations with immediate effect. As my friend texted "Phew!". We have not been to any of the identified locations that have been visited by confirmed Covid cases. Our friends contemplated what we might have done if unable to leave SA, and wineries were mentioned!

At Yunta we joined a queue for fuel as the diesel pump at the only other service station was out of order. We can fill with truck diesel but avoid this where possible. The 17 year old Roadie we met on our SA Aussie Road Crew tour had overtaken us and was refuelling at Yunta, so I said a quick hello to him.

We arrived at the Broken Hill Outback Resort in time to set up, make a cup of tea, and play with the critters before going to the restaurant for dinner.

At sunset the sky turned pink in the east after the sun had dropped below the horizon. We will drive back to Broken Hill in the morning to meet my four month old great niece and her happy parents.
