Woomera to Port Augusta

We have been having trouble with our drainage plumbing, so I spent an hour this morning under the Bushtracker. When our new cooktop was installed the workers took it upon themselves to rearrange some of the drainage pipes. Water drained from the kitchen sink sometimes ended up on the floor of the shower.

The kitchen sullage flowed from the right to the Y Junction, but ended up in the top pipe which drains the shower. I disconnected the kitchen pipe and used the Y junction to connect to the kitchen drain and the bathroom drain.

Our drive from Woomera was uneventful. We stopped for a break at a rest stop with a view of the Flinders Range.

After parking the Bushtracker at our caravan park we headed to Woolworths - Anita shopped while I walked Blue on the most wonderful green grass we have seen for ages. Port Augusta is near the head of Spencer Gulf and was a major shipping port until road and rail took over carriage of goods, ore and animals from the 1920s. The original wharf is mostly intact and features in an historic walking trail. The green grass is beside the walking trail, and the shops only metres away.

It is a long weekend in SA so there are more people travelling and staying here in Port Augusta. There are lots of workers staying in cabins at our caravan park. I think they are working on the major project of building another bridge across the Gulf, making Augusta Hwy a dual carriageway.

This mural is near the skate park and this lovely old building houses government departments. There are copies of old photos along the historic walk. This one shows camels being unloaded about 1890. Three hundred camels were unloaded on that day.
