ARC Days 3 and 4 Mt Larcom
We are still having problems with our Bushtracker brakes, but there was some improvement after Childers. When we arrived at this caravan park yesterday we left rubber on the steep road and this concerned some of the male Roadies who soon had the van jacked up adjusting the brakes. Their advice was we take it for a drive the next day to see if it was OK or whether we need to get further assistance while near large towns.
Today we drove about 30kms to Gladstone and had a hot front wheel so found a business that services trailers and left it with them for several hours. All seemed OK on the drive back up to Mt Larcom, but when we parked we had a hot rear wheel! So far we have paid for the brakes to be serviced at the Gold Coast, had a mechanic look at it at Childers for $110, and now paid $160 at Gladstone. We will have to drive to Gladstone again tomorrow to see if it can be fixed, then double back to Mt Larcom before starting our journey to our next campsite. At least we saw some parts of Gladstone.
Tonight all of the musicians had a jam session and it was fabulous. The Hussy Hicks drove here from the Gold Coast to perform last night and are here for a second night as part of the jam session. They walked the 6kms Mt Larcom - they are in their 30s and fit!
Blue and Tilly have quickly adapted to travelling - thank goodness! We had to drive them around Gladstone for much of the day. When out of the Toyota Tilly gets spooked by birds, but wants to leap after them. We have her in a harness and on a lead, but she took a strong interest in the seagulls while we ate outside at the Yacht Club.
A professional photographer is part of our group. Kerry Brisbane specialises in taking photos at rodeos but does a fabulous job taking photos of our entertainers. Instead of me posting poor quality phone photos I am including some of Kerry's great shots. These are from last night. She is planning a series of dog/cat photos.
