ARC Day 10 - Charters Towers

Some members of our group headed for the golf course right behind this caravan park. Others like us went to town to look around Charters Towers. As we were here zJune last year we didn't need to spend all day in town, but I did take time to admire the well kept historic buildings.

The town appears to be very sound economically with no vacant shops. The population is over 8,000. The three main industries are providing support for mining activities, beef cattle, and education including boarding schools for kids from remote stations. Lots of travellers like us stop to visit on their way to other places.

This afternoon I gave Blue another haircut as the temperature is rising as we head north and west. I skipped washing and drying him as he will just get dusty again tomorrow. He and Tilly had a wrestling session on the bed.

Our concert started with a jam session by our resident musicians. Dinner for all was roast pork followed by sticky date pudding. The treat for the evening was a performance by Home Grown, three young adult siblings living and working in Charters Towers. They made it to the last 16 on The Voice two years ago and it is surprising to me that they didn't win.
