Alice Springs to Ghan
We are camped at the Erldunda Roadhouse Ghan, at the intersection of the Stuart and Lasseter Highways. Another Roadie couple is also here making our group of four vehicles half the tourist contingent. Anita and I stayed here last year and had dinner at the tavern like we did last year. There are two camels here and several emus behind protective fences.
While we have some grass at our campsite, it is impossible to keep Blue out of the red dust. Tilly and our friends' little Hugo have developed a red tinge.
After we checked out from our Alice Springs caravan park we visited the Araluen Arts Centre. There is lovely exhibition of works from Aboriginal desert dwellers. Here are a couple of my favourites.
The only stop we made on our drive here was at the Stuart Well Roadhouse. This appears to be a struggling business short of staff, exemplified by this statue of a camel with a crutch for its missing leg. The bougainvillea is impressive.
