Alice Springs Light Show
After a leisurely start to our day we drove to Todd Mall for breakfast at Page 27, a fabulous busy cafe in a narrow lane off the mall. My museli and fruit bowl was great. A German family with three kids at the next table had to pat Blue who tolerated the attention but did not enjoy it.
Anita volunteered to stay home on dog/cat minding duty while I went to a light show with some friends. The wonderful Desert Garden was the setting for this free show. We simply crossed the road outside our caravan park and boarded a shuttle bus outside the Araluen Arts Centre. Everyone attending the show had to register so the organisers have a record of attendees as part of their COVID-19 safe plan. Social distancing didn't really happen at the show or on the buses.
The background for the show was the West MacDonnell Ranges. Here are some of the clever lighting blow-ups. The first depicts emu eggs, the second a native flower, and the third a grass seed. The grass seed is about 3m in diameter and is suspended from a gantry.
The other part of the show was based on lighting up the bush and projecting patterns on the MacDonnell Ranges.
