Weekend Activities

On Saturday morning we met up with two of our friends at Hot Shott - a very dog friendly cafe on Tedder Avenue at Main Beach. Most of the dogs parading up and down this street are poodles or poodle crosses - there is not a rottweiler or German shepherd to be seen. We also admired our friend's new car. I then took Blue for a drive to pick up a ponytail plant that has been at my friend's rural property. It is another root bound plant that broke its pot. I wrapped the plant in a tarp to take home. The broken pot was dropped off at the waste transfer station.

We decided to remove the black bamboo from one of our garden beds and replace it with the ponytail. Unfortunately I let Blue "help" and he managed to walk black soil all over the paving so created another job cleaning off his paw prints. We kept having the bamboo trimmed as it quickly becomes very tall and voluminous, dropping heaps of leaves that are irritating to the skin. I had to remove some of the bromeliads but replanted these. I dug a hole as deep as possible but struck the concrete fence foundations. The plant has survived root bound in a pot for years so should thrive in a garden bed. Today I added some mulch to cover the exposed black soil to minimise the risk of little paws making more mess. The Zoysia will eventually grow to cover the mulch.

This morning we walked to the market to buy some bread. Blue managed to walk most of the way. He now weighs 4kgs so is a burden to carry long distances. Dogs are not allowed in the market so we waited for Anita by the river where I admired this old tree trunk and flowers.

Tilly had been left another pink toy by one of our friends. She played with three pink toys in the laundry basket, then was so tired had to have a sleep on the lounge.

Blue had a bath this afternoon and was showing off one of the pink toys he had pinched from Tilly. I used the small clippers to give him "poodle feet" as fur was back between his paw pads - he slept through this!
