Making Secure Enclosure for Tilly and Blue

I spent most of the day making a secure enclosure for our critters to stay in when outside the caravan. The enclosure is eight connected panels that can be used in a couple of different shapes. When pegged down outside Blue is safe in there and can't get out, but obviously Tilly can just jump over the top. I considered different materials for a "roof" but settled on a small roll of light weight shadecloth for $25. The roof has to be taught against the top of the panels otherwise Tilly will simply climb the panels and squeeze under the shadecloth. The whole thing also has to be quick and easy to put up and fold away.

My supply of velcro came in handy to join the ends of the shadecloth together when wrapped around the enclosure, making two sides safe. The next step was to make the other two sides secure. I sorted through my collection of straps and sewed these along one side. As I was working in the house I couldn't peg the panels down. I had a break for dinner and came back to find Tilly had jumped on top of the shadecloth and caused the panels to fold inwards with her inside but she managed to climb out. I decided I would finish this job outside tomorrow without interuption from the little ones.

The only time they were quiet was when I was on a phone call. Tilly slept on the armchair with her cat cushion, while Blue slept on the blue rug with their toy safely under his chin. She gets inside the washing machine so I gently spun it around by hand but she enjoyed the game.

We watched a few short films from the Gold Coast Film Festival via Facebook in the comfort of our lounge room. I wound the now dry skeins of wool into balls ready for when I next pick up that knitting project.
