Friends for Dinner
Anita spent much of the day in the kitchen as we had invited two friends for dinner. Our meal was lovely and we were entertained by having another small dog in the house. Tilly couldn't understand why this strange dog would not play with her like Blue does.
We started the day putting up the new mirror. I found some scraps of timber that were the right size for the gap needed at the bottom of the mirror. With these in place I spread silicone on the timber support. I positioned the mirror and Anita held it in place while I placed some tape to hold it until the silicone has set.
The alarm went off in our Jeep this afternoon. When I investigated I found two flies buzzing around and assume these set off the alarm by triggering the ultrasonic sensor. After very carefully reading the owner's manual I discovered a way to disable the ultrasonic sensor but leave the rest of the alarm system intact. I then checked the manual for the Toyota and it doesn't seem to have an ultrasonic sensor as part of its alarm. I sat in the vehicle and locked the car which activates the alarm. I waved my arms around and moved in the seat but no alarm went off. We sometimes need to leave critters in the Toyota when it is not hot, so knowing there is no sensor is reassuring. I just wish I knew about disabling the ultrasonic sensor when we used the Jeep for towing.
I have removed one of the blind/flyscreen window fittings from the Bushtracker because the blind and flyscreen keep getting stuck. The problem was obvious once I had the frame off - the glue holding down strips of felt has failed. I wrote to Dometic asking what glue I should use to repair these blind/flyscreens. I have never liked this design as they are too easily damaged. I was going to replace the white flyscreen on some windows with fine black midgie screen, but have opted for an easier solution. I will cut some midgie screen to size and only hang it over the windows when needed.
I took Blue for a walk around the block. Most of the scaffolding has been taken down at the building site at the end of our street - not sure why but maybe a reconfigured structure is needed for installation of the exterior walls. It took an hour to walk half a kilometre because I had to stop to talk with neighbours who really wanted to interact with Blue.
These lovely critters were on the bed together this morning. Blue is allowed up for quiet time in the morning and Tilly emerged from under the doona.
