Lovely Sunny Day

We walked to Chevron Island to have breakfast with some friends. The forecast was for a temperature of 19 degrees at 9am, but it was a lovely sunny day and we were sitting in the winter sun. Blue only walked to the end of our road so I carried him in a backpack. He behaved himself very well sitting on his mat while we were occupied. Of course he eventually got to have a cuddle.

I asked our neighbours to remove the stalk with hundreds of flowers from their fountain palm. The flowers with small hard seeds fall into our garden and Blue keeps picking them up and might choke on them. They obliged today and fortunately the large stalk fell onto their garden with all the seed pods. Earlier in the day half a dozen minor birds set up a loud cacophony while sitting in this palm tree because they had seen Tilly lying in the sun on our veranda.

We are still considering how to create a way for Blue to get outside without allowing Tilly out. First plan is to create a space on our small veranda upstairs using a clear bistro blind to keep out the weather. I needed a batten to secure the blind to the ceiling so that meant another trip to Bunnings. I cut the batten to size and painted it with primer. Our local Spotlight had run out of the other things I need for this job. The shelves were bare where the bistro blinds had been on display, probably because they were on sale. I will have to try another store.

Plan B is to make a small cat run in our courtyard where both critters can go outside and enjoy morning sun, but will be confined by some type of cat enclosure. This requires the pet door being installed in a small window at floor level rather than in a large pane of glass in a door. More research is required. We also need to understand how tall Blue will get before finalising this project. Our neighbour over the road called out to us this morning that Blue had grown taller overnight, and I think he was right!
