Job Finished
Yesterday I spent a couple of hours with my friend who is very tech savvy, getting some hints about using Blogger, my tablet and sorting and storing digital photographs. We had our first post lockdown dinner at a restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was great to be able to enjoy a meal out. The rain started in earnest but we scored a parking space right at the door to the restaurant overlooking the Broadwater at Labrador.
This morning our electrician came to install an extra power point and help me put up the blind on our small veranda. Ashley is tall, strong and particular about accuracy and neat work. I was happy to be the apprentice and find the necessary tools and hand them to him as required. The blind doesn't exactly fit the opening so we installed an extender on one end, but the size of the extender needed for the other end is not manufactured. I bought a joiner intended to join two blinds together, pulled off the zip and used my sewing maching to join it to the supplied end piece. The PVC kept sticking to the machine so I put sheets of paper under the plastic to prevent this, then pulled the paper away. I used a needle designed for sewing leather and doubled the polyester thread on the top of the machine by threading two reels of thread through the needle. After a couple of test pieces I managed to sew three rows of stitches to make sure the join will be strong enough to cope with wind.
This job is now finished so tomorrow we will move the kitty litter trays out of our bathroom and onto the veranda. The door can be left open so Blue and Tilly will be able to go out there whenever they need. At night we will close the curtain but that shouldn't stop either of them from finding their kitty litter tray.
I had to make a trip to Beacon Lighting to buy an extra downlight for outside our garage where we are now storing the rubbish bins. Ashley will return on Friday to install that and hopefully do some painting for us if the rain has stopped. We needed the rain for the garden but it adds another challenge when taking our poodle puppy outside. Fortunately I had trimmed the fur on his paws before the rain came, removing most of the fur between his pads. He was awake when I started this job but fell asleep as I was doing it.
