Puppy Doesn't Like Travel

I took Blue for a drive to visit a friend so he could have some socialisation away from home. He cried all through the 20 minute drive. After a short sniff around my friend's garden he slept as he was so tired from crying. So much for socialisation! At least I had a nice visit and catchup.

We have never had a dog or cat that didn't like to go for car rides. I will put his crate in the back of the Toyota with toys and Tilly to let him have a play date for 5 or 10 minutes each day to get used to being in the crate in the car. Once he gets settled into that routine I will take them both for short drives.

I decided I needed a short project that could be completed in a couple of days. I tend to have several jobs on the go at once which lets me progress one while the paint dries on another. A few years ago I made this seat after carrying around the supports for a very long time. I originally coated the timber slats in marine varnish but this needs sanding back and reapplying on a regular basis. I decided that paint will be a lot easier and last longer so pulled the seat apart and started painting. My first job was to paint one side of the ends in black enamel paint.

I ordered some acrylic sheeting cut to size to cover openings in our gatehouse. This is where our gas bottles and rubbish bins are stored, but it is not weatherproof. By covering three of the openings I will be able to use the small room for storing bits and pieces currently taking up space in the garage.
