Near Miss

This morning we were walking under the Chevron Island Bridge when I stopped to photograph the clear water in the Nerang River and the interesting pattern in the sand. As I pulled my phone out of my pocket I also pulled out my credit card which ended up in the river. Fortunately I could retrieve and dry it and it still works!

We bought coffees and croissants and enjoyed them at home reading the papers. Back in my garage I keep finding stashes of consumables such as screws, brackets, hooks and hundreds of plastic lugs for holding screws in bricks and mortar walls. I may have to put some on Gumtree as freebies to give away to people who might be able to use them.

I started hand sanding the timber slats from the seat I am repainting but had to resort to the orbital sander. After vacuuming and dusting them I painted a coat of undercoat on one side of each slat, and then ran out of paint. A Bushwacker song immediately popped into my head "Another Trip to Bunnings". This is a clever ditty that captures several aspects of our relationship with Bunnings and this is my favourite line - "Looks like I'll be heading off to Bunnings"! If Blue wakes me early tomorrow I will get there when it opens at 7am.

A little trivia - the song being played over and over on the ABC "I am Australian" was written by Dobe Newton of the Bushwackers and Bruce Woodley of the Seekers. Woodley is cited as the main writer and he won a copyright case against the Department of Immigration after copies of the song were distributed around the country for playing at citizenship ceremonies without paying appropriate rights.

Anita has been entertained by Tilly helping her play computer games. I suggested she download one of the games specifically for cats and this certainly caught our little feline's attention.

Blue had another bath and blow dry today as he gets smelly because he plays in the garden where he has previously been for a wee. He was very good and tolerated the whole process. We had a friend for dinner tonight and when she arrived he was so excited even though he had never met her before. I'm glad she wasn't a burglar. I swear he poses for these photos!
