Quiet Day

We went for an early morning walk deliberately finding a couple of hills to get some exercise. There was hardly anyone in Coles at 7.15am when we bought the newspapers. I reassembled the caravan toilet cassette and tidied the gear in the garage that belongs in the caravan and moved it away from my kayak. I haven't paddled for about 3 years since I fractured a vertebra in my lumbar spine in a rear end collision when I was a passenger in my aunt's car. The weather is great for kayaking so I thought I would at least make the kayak accessible as it is a sanctioned exercise activity on the water. I also washed all of my paddling gear so it will be ready next time the weather is suitable - ie not too windy, not too hot, and not too cold!

There was a lot of mould on our paving so we started the cleaning process. We had left it too long so will take a couple of goes. The pool was inviting so cleaning was abandoned for the day. Anita had unearthed an unopened scrabble board so we had a game. This is something else we bought years ago but have not had time to use. We have carried our old scrabble in the caravan for 3 years without once having a game as there is always something else to do.

This evening we had a Skype conference call with a group of friends we haven't seen for ages. It was good to catch up  even though we need to improve the technology of our connection. It was also a long distance dog fix as there were 2 canine conference participants.

At least on Saturday night there are some good programs on TV - Death in Paradise followed by Van Der Valk on the ABC, then "I am Johnny Cash" on SBS. This last program is part of a fabulous 15 part Ken Burns documentary series on the history of country music. We saw some episodes while in the USA last year. That seems like such a long time ago before we had any idea the impact COVID-19 would have on New York and other parts of the USA.
