Easter Sunday and Monday
We have enjoyed two lovely days weather wise. Our outside painting is nearly finished and we are pleased with the improvement. Anita has been telling friends that I will be able to keep finding jobs even if we are in isolation for 12 months! During our painting exercise we identified rusty light fittings, spider nests under the carport, garage doors that need cleaning... We can't reach the top floor to paint the outside walls, but may be able to do that when we remove the flyscreens from the veranda.
Our pool has been wonderfully warm thanks to our roof solar panels and the insulation blanket that keeps most of the heat in overnight when the temperature drops to 15 degrees. Today we walked uphill past The Southport School (TSS) which is a very wealthy private school for boys that has at least a 750m frontage on Ferry Road and about 500m frontage to the Nerang River. We haven't walked this way since our dogs became too old to manage the distance. It was a surprise to discover major Council works underway at the river preventing us from enjoying the river view from the park.
I have one outstanding job that I keep avoiding. Under both sets of bifold doors there is a length of timber exposed to the sun and rain, especially on the side facing east. The silicone seal has pulled away from the timber. I contemplated trying to fill the small gap but decided the only reliable solution will be to remove the grey silicone and replace it to eliminate the gap that currently allows water penetration and damage to the timber.
There is another job that will have to wait until we can get our electrician to have a look at our roof to see if the range hood he installed is the cause of a small leak, damaging the timber ceiling trim. There is no point replacing the trim until the leak is fixed.
Now it is time to resume knitting!
