Bushtracker Home and New Puppy
Today was house keeping day so we planned Anita isolating downstairs while Kerryn cleaned upstairs, then swapping over. I drove to Coomera to pick up our Bushtracker which had a new cooktop, microwave oven, and power points installed. We also had a fan fitted to the bathroom, a foldout clothes line installed inside for wet days, and had the brakes serviced. I'm glad we didn't try to pick it up over Easter as Brad told us about a motorhome owner who was driving to see him on Saturday with a leaking roof, but was sent home by the police with a ticket on the basis his travel was not essential. We don't know the full story but that seems extreme. I had no trouble today and the Bushtracker is safely parked out the front.
The best news of the day is we are getting a toy poodle puppy on 25 April. My friend Joan had mentioned that her dog groomer had two pups for sale. I asked her to find out the story and she came back and told me they had already been sold. Good job we didn't get too excited at that stage. Joan had the bad news today that her 11 year old poodle Leo has bad arthritis in his hip and if he were a younger dog might be a candidate for hip replacement surgery. The best they can do is give him pain relief and anti inflammatory medication. Joan also told me that one of the puppies might now be available so I made contact and was sent this photo.
The breeder called me to check my credentials and was impressed with our history of having our dogs professionally trained and caring for them in their old age. I learnt how scientific the process of dog breeding has become - pups should not be allowed to leave their litter any sooner than 7 weeks of age, and should be removed by 9 weeks exactly. Apparently even one day too early or too late affects the dog's personality and socialisation. We are scheduled to get our boy on 25 April when he will be exactly 8 weeks old. He has been living with Joan's dog groomer who cares for puppies in her own home for the breeder, rather than have them living in kennels. Only 11 sleeps to go!
