Activity Around Our Area

At three minutes to 7 this morning I was third and last in the Coles line. The early morning crowd seems to be thinning out. By 7.30 I was home with everything on the shopping list much to Anita's amazement. She wonders why I don't like shopping with her! We put away the cold goods then went for a walk around the lake at HOTA. Our friend is living with her mother on the other side of the Nerang River so we phoned her and waved for a non-contact social visit safely separated by 70m of water! A few people were doing laps in the lake.

Within 150m of our house three new houses are being built. A fourth house was completed late last year after the block was subdivided. The original 1960s single storey homes are demolished to make way for larger new homes. The concrete pour started today at the end of our street, while in the street behind two houses are well underway. The construction noise fills the silence we otherwise enjoy thanks to the absence of jet skis, motor bikes and other traffic.

I finished cleaning the BBQ cabinet and removed several layers of dust from the outdoor fan, then went for a "swim" in our plunge pool. I have a strap around my waist attached to a rope tied to a pot so that I can swim without hitting the sides of the pool. I took my electric scooter for an outing for a quick trip to the post office to send my father a couple of blocks of chocolate. He can't get out and no-one can visit him, so the only way he can get his chocolate fix is through care packages.

During our trip to the stables last week we managed to load a heavy machine that I have never used, still packed in its original carton that has never been opened until today. It was a birthday present from Anita about 10 years ago but I have never had the time to set it up and use it! It is a Ryobi thicknesser designed to plane lengths of timber. I have downloaded the instruction manual to study before setting it up and testing to see if it still works.

The mystery of the helicopters hovering in our area a few days has been solved. Apparently they was under contract to Energex inspecting power lines. This evening there was an interesting sky, possibly indicating some wet weather is on the way. These photos are towards both ends of our street.
