Day 29 - Denman and Muswellbrook

The cafe we chose for breakfast in Denman is called Fresh - it also sells fresh flowers so was very busy as it was Valentine's Day.

We decided to drive to Muswellbrook as previously we have only passed through and not had a good look around. This town also has a Royal Hotel, the most common name for hotels built in the late 1800s. And like most large country towns there is an historic post office and School of Arts.

We shared a cheese platter at the Hunter Belle Cheese Cafe. As the sun came out we went back to our caravan and did some washing and put out the awning to clean off the dust.

The facilities at the Denman Van Park are misrepresented in their online sites. Glaringly it claims to have bitumen roadways, but these must have washed away in the last flood - all roads are gravel. The ensuites are so poorly constructed and very tired that we used the Bushtracker bathroom.

The gas bottles outside the ensuite should have protective barriers sufficient to stop cars from crashing into them. These rules were introduced following the deaths and injuries caused by a ute crashing into the gas bottles outside a Ravenshoe cafe.

On the positive side there are plenty of trees and birds as a creek borders the park. Lots of workers stay here in the onsite cabins.
