Day 25 - Corowa to Narrandera via Finley

There was only light rain overnight at Corowa. A kookaburra watched on as we packed up. Anita is feeling much better and managed to walk 200m to the Doc Yarram Cafe after we parked in town. We consulted the BOM app and decided to head west to Finley when we would reassess how far to go.

There was no rain on this drive but the area clearly needs a good downpour. We stopped at the attractive town of Berrigan where I walked the main street and took some photos. A mural celebrates Berrigan's status as forming the original volunteer bush fire brigade.

Next stop was Finley where we decided to drive north and risk thunderstorms at Narrandera. Just as we arrived at the Lake Talbot Tourist Park it started to rain. I had just finished connecting the power, water and sullage hoses when a park manager stopped and said I should ask my husband to turn the wheels of the Toyota towards the concrete before driving off ... long pause ... I said I had reversed the caravan and didn't realise one wheel was on partly the grass. I resisted the temptation to tell him I had forgotten to acquire a husband.

There were distant rumblings of thunder and intermittent rain all afternoon. We have a view over Lake Talbot which apparently formed in 1924 when the bank of an irrigation channel collapsed. The lake is used for water skiing - swimming is prohibited but there is a large pool and water slide next to the lake.

I found the camp kitchen and reheated one of our saved Indian meals. Tomorrow we will decide whether we will stay put or move on, after checking the risk of hailstorm.
