Day 22 - Social Day

I went to Graham's house to check on progress of the clear out. A small tip truck was in the backyard being loaded with rubbish from under the house. Metal items were separated out as these will all go to the recycler. The workers had expected to be able to fit other garden rubbish in the truck, but had under estimated how much was hidden under the house. The job clearly won't be finished tomorrow but we still plan to leave on Sunday.

After being assured work was progressing, I caught up with an old school/family friend at a local coffee shop. We had a great time catching up and solving the problems of the world!

I stopped on the drive home to take photos of the smoke haze that blanketed Melbourne all day. The morning started with fog and high humidity which trapped the smoke and kept the temperature down.

I keep discovering small groups of shops that have interesting cafes. My drives to and from Upper Ferntree Gully take me around the foot of the Dandenongs. If Anita is up to an outing tomorrow we might drive up Mount Dandenong and take the longer windy route. Fortunately after another day resting she managed to cook chops and vegetables for dinner tonight as we had exhausted our supply of leftovers. This clever mural is on a wall at The Basin shops.

We have been worried about our Miki who has been off her food. She travelled with us on our trip to Western Australia and had a very healthy appetite. Fortunately she has picked up thanks to daily visits to the vet for steroid and antibiotic injections. Or perhaps she is eating in the hope the pet patrol will stop taking her to the vet?
