Day 20 -
Anita was confined to the caravan again with her cough and cold symptoms. I met The Junkman at Graham's house. Two men made good progress but there is still a lot to do. They will work Friday and Saturday so we won't leave until Sunday. We are still undecided as to which way we will travel. The Princes Highway is open to the NSW border, but the roads leading to the coast are still closed except to residents. If the area gets heavy rain there could be flooding and landslides in the bushfire areas.
I didn't have to transport the chemicals or dud batteries as The Junkman will do that. I kept out of their way and did other errands, such as redirecting my father's mail and contacting his insurer to let them know the house is vacant.
There is a great caravan and camping shop on Burwood Highway so I found things to buy there. We don't want to lift 20 litre Jerry cans full of fuel so I have been looking for a 12 volt pump. This shop had a pump and wired it for me so I can plug it into the Anderson plug for a power source. I needed hose to attach to the pump that won't rot after coming into contact with diesel. At Enzed a helpful young man showed me very heavy duty house that would have made the whole set up way too big and heavy. I bought enough to dip into the fuel container but settled on plastic hose for the outlet. Hope it works!
Left over Thai was all that was on our menu tonight so I got the job of reheating everything in the camp kitchen. It tasted fine but hopefully Anita will be up to going out tomorrow. The sunset was colourful even without enhancement from smoke or dust.
