Day 5 - Three Different Events
Our first stop for today was The Pub to see Bill Chambers. We realised we should have bought tickets for the earlier Lucky Oceans show as he had Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers and Don Walker from Cold Chisel as guests. Bill was his usual entertaining self telling how he persuaded his then wife Diane to go bush to hunt foxes - with 3 year old Shane and 3 week old Kasey - for 3 weeks which became 10 years! Kasey joined in to help Bill sing a song, and provided backing vocals for Brandon Dodd who is in her band.
Our next stop was Wests so I could see Darren Carr and his Puppets. This was an hilarious show where Darren has his puppets enter the Tamworth Talent Quest. The first puppet chose an act as a ventriloquist singing a song - with Darren controlling both the original puppet and the smaller puppet. The second puppet was a send up of Dolly Parton.
Darren's banter with each puppet was very funny. His Dolly described meeting a man and making love on the table, on the couch and on the rug, before being thrown out of Ikea! All the puppets "sang" and "interacted" with Darren.
Our final stop was the South Tamworth Bowlo to listen to Anthony Taylor and Pete Wilson who we know from Aussie Road Crew tours. Anthony's wife Sara joined him on stage to sing.
