This morning we had a late start then went to Wests Leagues Club for coffee, music and poker machines (not me!). We drove out of town for a great lunch at Carmen's Italian restaurant. Back at camp there was a small fire in one of the caravans, and the wind was damaging awnings and tents. I helped sort this man's collapsed awning, then he and Tammy carried his swag across the rugby field to a safer location.
Apparently there was a thunderstorm overnight that I slept through. I will wake to the sound of a cat crying or dog whimpering, but sleep through loud thunder. Two storm cells passed either side of Tamworth this afternoon, but there was very little rain. Stanthorpe will have to keep trucking water because no rain fell in the Storm King Dam which is below 10% of its capacity.
My friend Reggie carries around a large camera taking professional quality photos without using a flash or tripod. She took these two photos at last night's concert while sitting in the same row as us. I might have to rethink whether I should be carrying a large camera around, or settle for reasonable phone pics.
Felicity Urquhart looks fabulous in the first photo, and Darren Carr's dummy looks good in the second. Beccy Cole posted on Facebook a terrible photo of Darren taken while he was sleeping. He is known for cracking jokes about other country music artists, so Beccy will no doubt become the butt of more of his jokes.
We were enjoying an Ashleigh Dallas gig when Aussie Road Crew mates Libby O'Donovan and Kelly Brouhaha joined us, then Dave and Therese Proust. Prousty is a bush poet when he is not being a plumber. He has been suffering terminal brain cancer, but in his last scan there was no sign of the tumour.
We had front row seats at the concert to honour Glen Hannah who committed suicide last May. It was also a fund raiser to help his wife Felicity Urquhart support their two young girls. Hannah won a Golden Guitar in 2017 for Musician of the Year. He was also very well known and highly regarded for his talents as a producer. We were fortunate to witness an amazing gathering of Australian singers and musicians, who volunteered their time to help raise money and celebrate the talents and achievements of Hannah.
